For many families with older teens, decision making about college can become an all-consuming topic during junior and early senior year of high school.  We know many families that start visiting colleges as early as Spring vacation of sophmore year and as the calendar turns to summer before Junior year most are thinking about which schools they will want to visit during the next year or so.

Add some family fun to college visits!

Whenever possible, we think it is a great idea to make college visits a family affair.  Not only do they provide the younger siblings a first look of their own, but if planned right, they can be a launch pad for some family fun and visits to landmarks and sights that might not otherwise fit into the family vacation agenda.

We expect to visit a number of colleges along the Atlantic Seaboard in the coming months.  As always, we’ll be looking for some family activities to experience in between campus tours and interviews.   In most cases, we’ll be planning tours at clusters of school in a given area and be looking to add on a day or two for some family fun.  Over the next few months look for our updates on ideas for family activities when visiting colleges with your teens and tweens.  We’ll post resources and inspiration as we uncover them and come back to update you on our own experiences.
