Welcome to our first Travel with Teens and Tweens blog carnival for 2011.  As always, we are featuring blog articles about fun family travel written by real families.  Whether they use trains, helicopters, boats, skis, cars or good old fashion foot power these families are having a great time traveling with their teens and tweens.

Trains

Suzita Cochran recounts a ride on the the California Zephyr on the way to Denver with her tweens in  Family Train Trip. posted at Play. Fight. Repeat.   They found the  community and camaraderie of the train to be natural and easy.  No one was in a rush and the kids loved the experience.  Her tweens still talk about it!

Boats

Jennifer Miner shares her experiences on a Nickelodeon Cruise that allowed her family to explore Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta.  One of the highlights for them was a chance to meet and interview Jeannette McCurdy, one of the stars of Nickelodeon’s iCarly.  Their post: Jeannette McCurdy Video from Nickelodeon Cruise Vacation at The Vacation Gals  is a delightful look back at a special moment on their voyage.

Helicopters & Skis

Jane Carswell presents A Family Heliskiing Vacation – From a Father’s Perspective posted at The Heli-Ski Blog.  The post shows a family with teens celebrating Christmas on a heli-skiing vacation in the Bugaboo Mountains.  They prepared for weeks and had an amazing family experience.

Amy at Pit Stops for Kids shares a fun family ski trip in Home (Away) for the Holidays: Skiing with a Tween at Sierra at Tahoe.  They found the resort to have a manageable size and centralized layout that made it easy for older kids and teens to split off with their friends.

And More

The Vagabond family of Vagabond Kids visited a silk farm in Cambodia in their post Family Travel in Cambodia: Siem Reap Silk Farm Tours.  The tweens on the tour were very interested to tour the worm house and even get to hold some in their hands.  They reported this was one of the highlights of their whole trip to Cambodia.

After escaping the icy grip of a snowstorm in Atlanta, Gwyneth and her girls from Travel Goon shared photos of an idyllic poolside respite at the Ritz-Carlton in Fort Lauderdale in her article Photo Friday: Poolside in Fort Lauderdale.  For everyone stuck in a snow bank after the recent northeast US blizzards, the sun and fun are a welcome sight.

Finally, Traveling Bunch, a video blog on YouTube shares a  visit to Castle Neuschwanstein – Top star attraction in Germany.  Looks like a great time.
