With 3 feet of snow still standing in our New England backyard we are hoping the groundhog is right that it will be an early Spring.    To get our warm weather vacation planning juices flowing we recently spent some time surfing the Best Family Travel Advice site where travel experts, including Mary T, collaborate to answer all types of family travel questions.    We found lots of inspiration there and thought we’d share some of our favorites including:

National Parks:  Amy from Pit Stops for Kids reminds us that National Parks are affordable and offer unlimited opportunities to hike and get outdoors away from crowds.  She recommends a spring break visit to Death Valley which sees temperatures well over 100 degrees most of the summer but is much more comfortable in spring.  Amy recommends Furnace Creek Ranch as a good family friendly base camp.  Sharlene Earnshaw of Trekaroo agrees National Parks are a great destination and highly recommends a spring visit to Yosemite before the crowds arrive.

Cruises:  Globetrotting Mama Heather Greewood Davis shares tips about cruise deals for kids age 17 and under on the new Disney Alaska cruise and makes suggestions for the best boats to take to Mexico.  She really enjoyed her sailings on the Disney Dream and the Disney Wonder and recommends them highly.

The Northeast: Mother of All Trips  Mara Gorman gives tips for summer road trips to Vermont, Philadelphia and Washington DC.  BFTA has been getting a number of questions about things to do with teens and tweens in up and down the East Coast.  Mara recommends mixing up visits to historical sites with getting outdoors in the mountains of Western Massachusetts and Vermont.  Mary T contributed some ideas for Boston, New York, and the Jersey Shore.

Costa Rica:  Costa Rica is another destination recommended by the experts.  Ciao Bambino‘s Amie O’Shaughnessy recommends a luxury resort on the west coast while Travel Savvy Mom Jamie Pearson suggests a 7-day family friendly Costa Rica touring itinerary that visits volcanoes, rainforests and beaches.

The mom travel bloggers of BFTA are always a great source of information and inspiration.  Not sure what you are looking for?  Hit the sidebar links for ages group, destinations or other topics.  You can also use the site search engine or submit your own question.  The experts look forward to hearing from you!
