Outdoor Family Travel Adventures Are Always Tops with Teens

Eco-friendly nature and adventure travel are usually a major hit with teens and tweens but it isn’t always easy to find an outfitter or tour company that really understands the needs of families traveling on outdoor vacations with teens and tweens.   Thankfully, more and more adventure travel companies are recognizing the unique interests of families with teens, tweens and college students.  Some of the travel opportunities that have recently caught our eye include: Cruising the Galapagos Ecoventura operates an environmentally friendly fleet of small 20-passenger yachts in the Galapagos Islands and features  family departures exclusively for families, most of which travel with children age 12-21. Visit The Hunger Games Movie Filming Locations in North Carolina

Our high school freshman and her friends are counting the hours until the release of The Hunger Games movie on Friday, March 23rd.  The Princess spent most of her Winter school vacation week reading the trilogy from cover to cover, and we have spent hours discussing the plot and characters.  For those who still don’t know much about the series, it tells the tale of a post-apocalyptic North America where an oppressive government forces teens and tweens to battle one another to the death in a nationally broadcast ritual known as the Hunger Games. What we only learned recently is that The Hunger Games movie filmed many of its outdoor scenes on location in western North Carolina.   If you are going to be visiting the area this spring or summer you can [...]

The 2012 PGA Tour is just getting started, and many avid golfers are watching on TV.  Seeing the stars on beautiful courses is also getting a lot of golf fans  inspired to organize a family vacation that includes a couple of rounds of golf  on courses that offer something different than their local club.  But, what about the rest of the family? Every golfer with kids, teens or tweens knows that balancing golfing desires with competing family interests can be challenging.  If you are lucky, the teens might share your excitement for a family trip to play courses in Ireland or Scotland.  Others, however, might roll their eyes at the idea of hitting the links as the high point of a family vacation.  To keep them happy, you need to plan a vacation that can mix up the golf  [...]
